City Code of Ordinances
In the City of Oakland Park, a Short-Term Rental is defined as: A “Transient Public Lodging Establishment” means any unit, group of units, dwelling, building, or group of buildings within a single complex of the building which is rented to guests more than three times in a calendar year for periods of less than 30 days or 1 calendar month, whichever is less, or which is advertised or held out to the public as a place regularly rented to guests. A Vacation Rental, as defined under the City Ordinance, is any transient public lodging establishment that does not have on-site management, which is located in the single-family residential dwelling zoning district in the City of Oakland Park. The maximum occupancy of a vacation rental shall be two (2) persons per bedroom that contain one hundred (100) square feet or more, plus one (1) person per bedroom that contains no less than seventy (70) square feet, but less than one hundred (100) square feet, plus two (2) persons. A vacation rental owner must register with the City of Oakland Park, personally or through an agent, using the city's forms. The registration should include the following:- Submitted with fees
- Contain the owner's name, address agent, and telephone number of the agent
- Proof of State License from Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulations Transient Public Lodging
- Proof of Florida Department of Revenue sales surtax
- Proof of Broward County Business Tax Collector for collection of tourist tax
- Proof of Broward County Business Tax Receipt (this is a Broward County requirement)
- Exterior site sketch example (include off-street parking)
- Interior building sketch example (identify floor layout)
