City Code of Ordinances
Claremont defines short-term rentals as a room or housing unit that is rented to a person or group for a brief period of time, usually less than thirty nights. The City's Municipal Code currently prohibits renting out residential properties for periods shorter than thirty days. The Future Financial Opportunities Committee recommended the City Council consider regulating short-term rentals in the City of Claremont and believes that regulating short-term rental properties will help provide more lodging options to assist with the current limited supply of hotel space and potentially generate revenue for the City.Short-term rentals, such as AirBnbs or VRBOs, are technically banned in Claremont, but the rule is not often enforced due to staffing issues.
Do your due diligence and consult a local lawyer or tax professional. Ordinances and Zoning are subject to changes and should always be confirmed with the City of Claremont, California.
