Oceanside Short-Term Rental Regulations

City Code of Ordinances

Oceanside defines short-term rentals as a dwelling or any portion offered for rent or rent in the city to reside, stay or sleep for no longer than thirty (30) days straight. Bed & breakfasts, hotels, motels, and timeshares are not included.

Business License Requirements

Oceanside requires a business license and permit. The owner must maintain a current and legitimate business license granted by the city at all times. Refer to Licenses for more information.

Building and Housing Standards

The City of Oceanside has rules and regulations that specify minimum building, design, maintenance standards, habitability, health, and safety requirements. Some rules and regulations that apply to residential and non-residential properties may apply to your listing. Consult the local building code for more information.

Tourist and Local Taxes

Oceanside subjects the renter to pay a tax of ten (10) percent of the rent charged by the lodging operator.
