City Code of Ordinances

The City of Glendale permits short-term rentals. A vacation or short-term rental is a residential property for rent for less than thirty days. Vacation and short-term rental do not include a unit used for any nonresidential use, including retail, restaurant, banquet space, event center, or another similar use. The owner of a vacation rental or short-term rental shall provide the city with contact information for the owner or the owner's designee who is responsible for responding to complaints in a timely manner in person, over the phone, or by e-mail at any time of day before offering for rent or renting the vacation rental or short-term rental within the city.

Business License Requirements

Short-term rentals must have a Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) license from the State of Arizona Department of Revenue. Use the Region Code GE (Glendale) on your license. Additionally, all rental units in Glendale must register those units with the Maricopa County Assessor per Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) 33-1902 before being occupied.

Building and Housing Standards

Glendale has rules and regulations that specify minimum building, design, maintenance standards, habitability, health, and safety requirements. Tourist and Local Taxes

All short-term and vacation rental properties in Glendale are required to pay both TPT and a Transient Tax (bed tax) for a combined TPT rate of 15.7%.   Property owners are responsible for obtaining a TPT license from the Arizona Department of Revenue.
