Gresham Short-Term Rental Regulations

City Code of Ordinances

Gresham regulates short-term rentals and classifies them into two types: Hosted Homeshare - An owner-occupied home where room(s) and common areas are offered for short-term lodging (includes bed and breakfast). Additional Resources: Vacation Home Rental - A non-owner-occupied home (including rental of attached but separate studio or apartment) rented for short-term lodging. Additional Resources: The occupancy limitations for guests are as follows: For overnight, 2 guests per bedroom + 2 additional persons and Daytime, overnight occupancy + 6 guests. For more details, see Chapter 7, Chapter 8, and Chapter 9 of the City Code.

Business License Requirements

City registration is required for short-term rentals, defined as a portion of a home or entire home rented for lodging purposes.

Building and Housing Standards

Gresham has rules and regulations that specify minimum building, design, maintenance standards, habitability, health, and safety requirements. Tourist and Local Taxes

A short-term rental is a rented space for 30 consecutive days or less, counting portions of days as full days. Operators of short-term room rentals are subject to:
  • Registration within 15 days of operation
  • Transient lodging tax
  • Quarterly tax remittance
