Siesta Key Short-Term Rental Regulations

City Code of Ordinances

Siesta Key allows short-term rentals with restrictions. Sarasota County allows the rental of dwelling units.

Transient accommodation for less than 30 days is not allowed in single-family homes. Rental of a residential dwelling unit in an RMF District on the Barrier Islands may be granted under the special exception for fewer than 30 days. Visit the zoning map and view this document.

Business License Requirements

A business License is not required.

Building and Housing Standards

Sarasota County has rules and regulations that specify minimum building, design, maintenance standards, habitability, health, and safety requirements. Some rules and regulations that apply to residential and non-residential properties may apply to your listing. Consult the Building Department for more information.

Tourist and Local Taxes
